Donald Trump closes out RNC and accepts presidential nomination

In an appeal to anxious voters, Donald Trump pledged Thursday night that “safety will be restored” if he is elected president, calling out Hillary Clinton as part of a political class causing the nation’s troubles.

  • Donald Trump accused rival Hillary Clinton of leaving behind a legacy of “death, destruction, terrorism and weakness”
  • Trump’s speech lasted more than an hour, where he spoke about an actual plan rather than his typical “It’s gonna be huge”
  • The crowd chanted: “Lock her up” as Trump waved them off saying “Let’s defeat her in November.” This answer is much more diplomatic than his usual “Crooked Hillary” bashes
  • Trump, now 70 years old, closed out the epic Republican National Convention just an hour ago reminding America how deep in poverty, violence, and corruption declaring himself the only person who could avert disaster
  • “I have a message for all of you: the crime and violence that today afflicts our nation will soon come to an end,” Trump said. “Beginning on January 20th, 2017, safety will be restored” basically, he’s saying that he already has the election in the bag
  • John Kasich was a no-show, even though he is the sitting Republican governor of the state hosting the convention
  • Trump said he would slash taxes, boost infrastructure spending and rescue children struggling in failing schools with one of his key moments being his blanket promise to bring security and safety to the nation
  • “My pledge reads, ‘I’m with you — the American people'” Trump said, comparing it to Hillary’s slogan “I’m with her”
  • Trump brought up the private email server of Clinton, reminding the American people how corrupt the system is given she escaped charges stating “corruption has reached a level live never before”

Her bad instincts and her bad judgment — something pointed out by Bernie Sanders — are what caused many of the disasters unfolding today. This is the legacy of Hillary Clinton: Death, Destruction, Terrorism and Weakness, but Hillary Clinton’s legacy doesn’t have to be America’s legacy. – Donald Trump

  • “Her single greatest accomplishment may be committing such an egregious crime and getting away with it — especially when others, who have done far less, have paid so dearly,” Trump told the electric crowd
  • Bernie Sanders didn’t waste a minute — immediately tweeting “Trump: ‘I alone can fix this.’ Is this guy running for president or dictator? #RNCwithBernie”
  • “Big business, elite media and major donors are lining up behind the campaign of my opponent because they know she will keep our rigged system in place,” Trump added. “They are throwing money at her because they have total control over every single thing she does,” calling Hillary their puppet
