PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (YC) – Philadelphia Police are investigating four incidents that took place within 24-hours of each other leaving 3 dead & 1 critically injured.
Just after 4:40 p.m. Thursday, an 82-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle while in the crosswalk on Montour and Mayfair St.
Medics rushed the victim to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:40 p.m.
The vehicle was described as a 2015 Toyota Corolla owned and was operated by a 61 year-old male.
That same night at approximately 11:45 p.m. a vehicle fatally struck a bicyclist identified as 19-year-old Lorenzo Velazquez.
Police responded to C St. & Ashdale St. for reports of a hit-and-run.
Upon police arrival, they noticed Velazquez suffering from severe head trauma after being thrown from the bicycle.
Medics transported the victim to St. Christopher’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:19 a.m.
The fleeing vehicle is described as a white 2 door Honda with a dented hood and possible windshield damage and missing hood emblem.
Just after 1:12 a.m. Friday morning police officers responded to 4500 block of Griscom Street for reports of a shooting.
Upon police arrival, they observed a 54 year-old male lying on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest.
Police rushed the victim to Temple University Hospital where he was listed in critical condition and subsequently pronounced at 2:50 a.m.
The investigation is ongoing with the Homicide Unit.
Police responded to the 1200 block of North 53rd St. just after 1:30 a.m. Friday morning for reports of shots fired.
Strangely, officers observed a 60 year-old male with a gunshot wound to the stomach walking westbound on 5300 Stiles St.
The complainant told officers he was walking on 1200 North 53rd Street, when two unknown males approached him attempting to rob him then shot him one time in the stomach.
The man was taken to Penn Presbyterian medical Center Hospital by police, where he is listed in critical condition.
The investigation is ongoing with Southwest Detective Division.
