CHESTER CITY, Pa. (YC) — Police in Delaware County are investigating an arsonist who allegedly stole a car Monday night.
Just after 10:30 p.m., Chester City Police responded to the 1200 block of Culhane Street for reports of a stolen vehicle.
The victim told police the car was left running for a moment in the rear of the residence, and when the resident came outside they were alarmed to find their car gone.
The vehicle was described as a dark gray 2010 Chevy Malibu.
About two hours later, Chester City Police and members of the Chester City Fire Department responded to the 700 block of Hinkson Street for the report of a vehicle fire.
When the fire was out, police confirmed that it was the same vehicle that was stolen earlier that night.
Chester City’s arson investigator responded to the scene and confirmed that the fire started in the passenger’s compartment.
This is an ongoing investigation.
