The first two murders in 2018 for Chester City happened overnight, and it’s a record, of sorts for the city.
Citizens of Chester City mourned the loss of over two-dozen men, women and children who were killed in 2017, a summer of shootings that left 8 people dead in the first 8 weeks of the summer, starting with a 16-year-old boy being gunned down walking to his last day of school.
2018 started off brighter without any homicides in the first 3 weeks. The streak came to a bloody end Tuesday night after 3 shootings left 2 people dead and one other wounded.
The first man was shot and killed while sitting in a white Kia Sportage in the middle of the street after suffering from several gunshot wounds.
Police responding to 911 calls in the area of the 500 block of Mosley Court in Chester City about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday found the man in his car with numerous gunshot wounds, officials told YC.
The male, later identified as Chadease Coleman, was unresponsive when police and paramedics from Crozer-Chester Medical Center arrived on location.
Coleman was pronounced dead on the scene.

This is the first homicide in the City of Chester this year.
Just a few hours later, at 11:10 p.m., Chester City Police responded to the area of the 2600 block of Swarts Street for several reports of shots being fired in the area.
As police were responding to the call, they received a second call from Crozer-Chester Medical Center, stating a gunshot victim had walked to hospital with several gunshot wounds to numerous parts of his body.
Chester City Detectives and Police went to the hospital and learned that the victim, later identified as Brian Vick, was the victim of the shooting on the 2600 block of Starts Avenue.
Hospital staff continued to work on the victim, but at 11:27 p.m. hours, the victim was pronounced dead.

As police and investigators were on the scene of the second shooting, they received yet another 911 calls reporting an accident and a shooting.
Once on location, officers observed a grey Ford Taurus with two broken windows.
Upon further investigation, it was learned that there was a chain reaction accident involving four vehicles.
Moments later, officers were approached by a victim who was identified as Gary Lane who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower back.
Paramedics arrived on location and did transport the victim to Crozer Chester Medical Center, where he was treated further for his injuries.
