Man killed in Chester City by crazed daytime gunman

Police in Delaware County are investigating the 11th homicide of the year to hit the City of Chester after a man was shot and killed in broad daylight.

Just after 11:00 a.m., police from the City of Chester Police Department responded to the 1700 block of West 11th Street for reports of shots fired.

Within a minute, the dispatcher informed officers that there was a shooting victim.

When police arrived, they found a gray Hyundai parked with a 28-year-old male identified as Lamont Lewis in the driver’s seat.

Lamont was suffering from several gunshot wounds to his upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Crozer-Chester Medical Center.

Police tell yc.news a white vehicle was reported fleeing the area at a high rate of speed.
