“Sully” is a spine tingling depiction of the “Miracle on the Hudson” which takes moviegoers on an emotional roller coaster. Director Clint Eastwood was able to incorporate some comedy into an action-packed incident. Tom Hanks gives a performance of a lifetime taking on the role of the mettlesome Captain Sullenberger. The film outlines not only the crash that forced Sully to a make life-and-death decision in under a few minutes, but a story on what being a pilot meant to Sully.

I have been flying for over four decades and I am being judges for the last 208 seconds – Tom Hanks (Sully)

On January 15, 2009, veteran US Airways pilots Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger and First Officer Jeffery Skiles board US Airways Flight 1549 departing from LaGuardia Airport en route to Charlotte Douglas International Airport and take off.

  • Clint Eastwood takes “Based on a True Story” to a new level
  • You learn additional life facts surrounding the “Miracle on the Hudson” that you might not have known prior to this film
  • Eastwood has accomplished his ultimate goal – the total suspension of disbelief
  • I can’t envision anyone other than Tom Hanks being able to take on the role of Captain Sullenberger of US Air
  • The final scenes alone make “Sully” worthy of being called a masterpiece
