- This is the first time in 28 years that Pennsylvania has gone for a Republican president.
- Green Party candidate Jill Stein’s efforts for a recount of the vote in Pennsylvania was blocked in federal court earlier this week.
- The president-elect has two remaining stops on his tour.
President-elect Donald Trump took center-stage in Hershey, Pa., this time thanking them for helping him deliver on the promise and capture the White House. Trump tore into White House press secretary Josh Earnest while speaking at a rally Thursday night in Hershey, Pennsylvania, calling him a “foolish guy.”
“This is the first time the Republican Party has won the state of Pennsylvania in almost 30 years,” Mr. Trump said to a cheer. “We made history together. You propelled to victory a grassroots movement the likes of which the world has never, ever seen.”
Trump repeatedly campaigned there, drawing some of the largest and loudest crowds of the campaign. He won the state by less than 1 percentage point, giving him a vital 20 electoral college votes.
Trump said that he had recently had “a great conversation with President Obama,” a mention that elicited boos from a crowd packed into a 10,000-seat arena here.
Trump triumphed in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania, a win that proved vital to his election victory. Green Party candidate Jill Stein’s efforts for a recount of the vote in Pennsylvania was blocked in court Monday. The state later certified the election results.
According to ABC News, Trump was previously scheduled to hold a news conference today, which would have been his first since Election Day. That news conference, in which he was expected to detail how he’ll cut ties to his businesses, has been postponed until next month.
The president-elect has two remaining stops on his tour. He’ll visit Orlando, Fla. Friday night, and will finish on Saturday afternoon in Mobile, Ala.
Obama’s Press Secretary
Obama’s press secretary on Thursday mentioned that Trump was encouraging Russia to hack his opponent, believing it would help his campaign.
“This foolish guy, Josh Earnest, I don’t know if he is talking to President Obama,” Trump said. “You know, having the right press secretary is so important, because he is so bad, the way he delivers a message.”
“He can deliver a positive message and it sounds bad. He could say, ‘Ladies and gentleman, today we have totally defeated ISIS,’ and it wouldn’t sound good,” Trump said, referring to the Islamic State terrorist organization.
