US Marshals alongside the Chester County Fugitive Apprehension Unit nabbed Barry Baker – the man who attacked a victim with cerebral palsy in West Chester.
Barry Baker, 29, was taken into custody Monday morning at about 8 a.m. in Uwchlan Township.
Chester County District Attorney Thomas Hogan announced on Facebook this morning that “Barry Baker in custody. Details to follow.” Shortly after, Hogan stated “At approximately 0745 hours today, Barry Baker was captured at a hotel in Uwchlan by the United States Marshals Service and Chester County Sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit.” The fugitive was on the run for a number of weeks. “Great team work after an intense manhunt. Baker will now also be charged with flight. We also still need to get the law changed to make this a hate crime in PA. Thanks to everybody who helped get the word out on this guy. #chescojustice”
The capture comes just days after Chester County District Attorney Thomas Hogan announced a $5,000 reward for Baker. Baker, 29, had been on the run for weeks after missing his court dates, leading warrants to be issued, and eventually the reward to be posted.
Baker’s bail has been raised to $500,000.00 cash by Chester County Court of Common Pleas Senior Judge Ronald C. Nagle following Baker’s attempt to flee.
Baker is now set to stand trial for the disturbing attack he allegedly committed when he was seen on surveillance cameras outside the 7-Eleven at 200 South High Street in West Chester around 2:30 a.m. back on May 10 caught Baker mocking a man with cerebral palsy before sucker punching him for no reason.
