PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (YC) – Philadelphia Police responded to a domestic dispute early Saturday morning when a man lunged at them with a knife.
The call came in just before 1:45 a.m. on the 1200 block of S. 29th Street.
When police arrived, 47-year-old Donald Williams answered the door. Williams stated the domestic disturbance was caused due to the fact that he was irritated that the television and internet was down.
3 police officers were at the residence, two of which were speaking to Williams and the third speaking with two other residents.
After officers believed they defused the situation, Williams entered the residence as police were preparing to leave.
A 29-year-old resident then yelled for the officers, stating Williams was infuriated and now wielding a knife.
As all 3 officers entered the residence Williams approached the 29-year-old with the knife.
After police repeatedly told Williams to drop the weapon, he lunged at an officer as another officer fired one round, striking Williams in the chest.
Officers transported Williams to Presbyterian Hospital and he is listed in critical but stable condition.
