Chester City: 5 people hospitalized from gunfire Saturday; 2 critical

CHESTER CITY, Pa. (YC) — Chester City Police are investigating a string of shootings that left 5 people in the hospital, including two who are in critical condition.

On December 9, 2017, at approximately 12:40 a.m., shots rung out on the 1600 block of W. 12th Street.

Upon officers arrival at CCMC, it was discovered that both victims who were transported to Crozer Chester Medical Center by ambulance, were juveniles.

One victim is 16-years-old and was struck numerous times including the back. The second is 15-years-old and was struck in the arm.

It was learned that the victims were in the area of 9th & Tilghman Streets when they heard a group of people start yelling at them. The victims then fled the area, by running away.

When the victims got to the area of the 1600 block of West 12th St, they stated that an unknown vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed towards them, then they heard gunfire, and realized that they were struck by the bullets.

The 16-year-old victim is listed in serious condition and the 15-year-old is listed in good condition.

Just after 8:30 p.m. Chester City Police Department were dispatched to 1100 W. 3rd street for a report of a shooting victim.

Upon their arrival, they observed two shooting victims.

The first victim, identified as 33-year-old Matthew Hightower, was struck several times in his lower body and the second victim identified as 31-year-old John Watson, was struck in his foot.

Paramedics from Crozer Chester Medical Center did arrive on location, and transported both victims to CCMC for further treatment. Upon further investigation, it was learned that the victims were walking into 1100 West 3rd Street, then numerous shots were heard, these shots were believed to have come from a moving vehicle.

Hightower is listed in serious condition, and Watson is listed in good condition.

As Chester City Police were investigating the shooting on the 1100 block of West 3rd Street, they were dispatched at 9:40 p.m. to the area of the 1100 block of Brown Street, for the report of shots fired.

A few minutes later, officers received information that there was a walk-in gunshot victim that just arrived at Crozer Chester Medical Center.

The victim informed hospital personnel that the incident occurred in the Sun Village section of Chester, which is also consistent with the 1100 block of Brown Street.

Upon officers arrival, they spoke to the victim, who was identified as 221-year-old Myasha Breakley.

The victim was suffering from a gunshot wound to her lower back. It was learned that the victim was just arriving to the area of Brown Street, and as she was getting out of her vehicle, an unknown actor began firing a weapon in her direction, striking the victim in the back.

The victim is listed in good condition at this time.
