New information on fatal hit-and-run Tuesday in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (YC) – Philadelphia Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run that happened Tuesday night.

Just after 10 p.m., Philadelphia Police responded to the 5400 block of City Avenue for reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, police observed an unconscious man on the highway, later identified as 58-year-old Anthony Rodgers from the 5600 block of Woodcrest Avenue.

Rodgers was transported by paramedics to Lankenau Hospital where he was later pronounced dead at 10:45 p.m.

Preliminary information shows that a vehicle traveling Northbound on City Avenue struck Rodgers, who was attempting to cross the intersection of City Ave and 54th Streets.

The vehicle involved in this accident has been recovered in the 4600 block of North 19th Street and is currently being secured.

The investigation is active and ongoing with A.I.D. at this time. There are no arrests at this time.
