A man was shot dead in Delaware County’s first homicide of the year.

Police responded to 911 calls in the area of Barker & Ash Roads in Darby Township at about 12 a.m. Friday reporting what sounded like three gunshots fired.

They found the man on the sidewalk of the 1000 block of Barker Avenue with a gunshot wound to the head, officials said.

The victim, a Delaware County resident whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead just after 12:05 a.m. at the scene, sources said.
