When hundreds of police officers rode through Trainer during the Police Unity Tour, they were left with an indelible mark by a young man.

Countless police officers who died in the line of duty were honored for their service Wednesday morning and we have learned that they were stunned by the actions of a child who spent his day waiting for them to ride through to simply high-five them.

“This shows me that there is still hope and that this little guy makes all the hate, name calling and bashing disappear,” a Delaware County law enforcement source told us. “I see this and my eyes are welling up. I honestly feel that I made the right choice 20 years ago when I became a cop.”

The group stopped at various small towns along the way to pay tribute to the heroes who lost their lives too soon.

“Whoever raised this young man deserves an award. They reminded countless officers why they put their lives on the line each and every day. We wish that young man luck in life, and we want him to know that he made a difference.”

“Police officers put their lives at risk every day to protect our communities,” candidate for Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer told us. “This young man is an example of how deeply most of us appreciate their willingness to serve.”

Delaware County District Attorney Katayoun Copeland was unavailable to provide comment … but it’s safe to say that this young man impacted the lives of many officers.
