Authorities in Delaware County are investigating a daytime shooting that left two people in the hospital Sunday afternoon.
One victim remains in critical condition.
Just after 1:30 p.m. officers in Chester, Pa. responded to the intersection of 9th & Edwards Street for reports of a gunshot victim.
“Upon officers arrival, they observed a silver Nissan Sentra on the front lawn of a residence in the 1600 block of West 9th St.” Captain James Chubb from the City of Chester Police Department told Your Content. “Inside of this vehicle was a gunshot victim. The victim, who was later identified as Farad Ishmail, 35, had sustained a gunshot wound to his head.”
“The victim was then transported to Crozer Chester Medical Center where he continued to receive advanced care. Mr. Ishmail is listed in Critical condition at this time.”
Police say a second vehicle, described to be a black Sportage, was idle at a red light in the area of 9th & Flower Streets.
This vehicle, which was occupied by four men, was waiting to proceed North on Flower Street.
“One of the occupants identified as Lawann Smith, 40, sustained a gunshot wound to his shoulder area,” Captain Chubb confirmed to Your Content.
“Mr. Smith is listed in good condition at this time.”
Police say a Chevrolet Trailblazer was also struck by gunfire. The driver was not injured.
