Police in Delaware County are on red alert after several dangerous gunmen who kidnapped one man and opened fire in broad daylight are at large, multiple law enforcement sources have confirmed with Your Content.

The incident happened sometime Wednesday afternoon when a man was abducted by two or more crazed gunmen on the 500 block of Kerlin Street in Chester, according to detectives.

From there, the gunmen journeyed to Boothwyn where the victim was tied up inside a home. The armed kidnappers demanded an enormous amount of cash. When the victim couldn’t adhere to their ransom notice, the masked bandits simply fled on foot, leaving the victim tied up inside of the home.

The victim freed himself and rushed to his pickup. But that’s when the nightmare worsened.

The victim, attempting to chase the armed men down, ignited a shootout.

“The terror that something like this can happen so close definitely alarms us,” a man from Chester told Your Content. “Everybody is sickened by the thought that these guys will target someone again.”

“There was three guys walking up the street. They were spread out which made me look. Then a truck came flying around the corner doing 50-60 mph down a 15 mph street,” said one witness to WPVI.

“I heard them all yell, “Here he comes!” They took off up Okiola. When he got to the intersection the gunfire started,” the witness revealed to the local channel.

The gunmen did struck the victim’s pickup twice, but no one was hurt.

The armed kidnappers fled on foot and remain at large It’s still unclear what led up to the abduction.

Anyone with any information is asked to call 911.
