GEORGE FLOYD’S loved ones are taking Minneapolis officials to the cleaners — filing a lawsuit in excess of $10 million in damages for the execution-style murder that riveted the world, Your Content is first to report.

Friends of the Floyd family told Your Contentthey intend on filing suit in the coming days and already retained a heavy-hitter to represent them.

“The lawyers have been coming — its like Black Friday for lawyers,” the family friend told Your Content.

“The muddy waters are coming. The city will reallocate the funds from defunding the police to foot the settlement for the Floyd family.”

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Minnesota, was announced by attorney Ben Crump and other lawyers representing Floyd’s family members.

“This complaint shows what we have said all along, that Mr. Floyd died because the weight of the entire Minneapolis Police Department was on his neck,” Crump said in a statement. “The City of Minneapolis has a history of policies, procedures and deliberate indifference that violates the rights of arrestees, particularly Black men, and highlights the need for officer training and discipline.”

The Minneapolis force has come under heavy pressure since Floyd, a Black man in handcuffs, died May 25 after a police officer pressed his knee on Floyd’s neck for nearly eight minutes. Activists had long accused the department of being unable to change a racist and brutal culture, and earlier this month, a majority of the council proclaimed support for dismantling the department.
