Authorities in Delaware County say a gunman opened fire on a hotel guest late Thursday morning before attempting to flee on foot and jumping into a nearby creek, Your Content has learned.
Police said the shooter ditched the weapon in the parking lot of the Travelodge hotel next door, ran across I-95 and then jumped into Darby Creek.
Amber Hoyt told 6ABC she was sleeping when she heard multiple gunshots and what sounded like glass breaking.
“Up on the second floor they were coming out with a guy on the ambulance. He was shot in both his legs,” said Hoyt.
According to police, the victim was living at the hotel after a house fire a few months ago.
Police had to use a fire boat to get into the creek and get the suspect out.
Officials said the suspect was taken to hospital but expected to be ok. The condition of the victim was not immediately known.
As Your Content readers know, police are still searching for a man accused of opening fire in the lobby of a second Delaware County hotel killing one person on July 30.
