A man convicted of killing two rural Missouri jailers in a failed prison escape attempt is scheduled to be executed today, Your Content has learned.
Michael Tisius, 42, will face lethal injection at the state prison in Bonne Terre for the murders of Leon Egley and Jason Acton at the Randolph County Jail on June 22, 2000.
Despite pleas from some of the jurors who initially sentenced Tisius to death, Missouri Governor Mike Parson has declined to commute the sentence to life in prison.
In response to their appeals, Governor Parson stated, “The murder of two dedicated public servants in a failed effort to aid a criminal is deplorable. The state of Missouri will fulfill Mr. Tisius’s sentences in accordance with the Court’s decision to serve justice”, according to CBS News.
