Law enforcement officials have revealed the apprehension of twenty-two suspects believed to be part of an elaborate drug trafficking operation, Your Content has learned.
The organization is accused of transporting narcotics from Boston to Manchester, New Hampshire, as stated by authorities on Wednesday.
Over the past two days, twelve of the suspects were arrested, and law enforcement seized approximately 1.6 kilograms (3.5 pounds) of suspected cocaine, 250 grams (8.8 ounces) of suspected fentanyl, 100 bags of drugs prepared for distribution, $26,000 in cash, and four firearms. These details were disclosed in a statement released by Jane Young, the U.S. Attorney for New Hampshire.
The defendants, hailing from New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, are slated to make an appearance in federal court later this week.
They face charges related to conspiracy to distribute controlled substances.
Authorities have described the drug trafficking ring’s modus operandi as “sophisticated.” Their operation involved the use of dedicated phone numbers for customers to place orders and employed drug runners with vehicles who would rendezvous with clients at predetermined locations.
In response to this significant development, Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig stated, “This announcement signifies a substantial blow to drug trafficking and conveys a resolute message that our city and region will not tolerate such illicit activities.”
Mayor Craig also mentioned that the city would deploy its Rapid Overdose Assessment Response Team to mitigate potential harm resulting from the reduced drug supply. The team aims to connect individuals in need with essential resources and treatment options.
Numerous federal and local enforcement agencies from New Hampshire and Massachusetts collaborated in this extensive investigation, according to AP News.
