An autopsy report, made public on Monday by the medical examiner in Davidson County, sheds light on the tragic events that unfolded during the Covenant school shooting in Nashville, Your Content has learned.

The report states that the former student, 28-year-old Audrey Hale, died from gunshot wounds to various parts of the body, including the head and torso, confirming the cause of death as a homicide.

Additionally, the autopsy reveals that Hale suffered blunt force trauma throughout their body.

The shooting took place on March 27 at the Covenant School, resulting in the devastating loss of three children and three adults.

Following the incident, a legal battle ensued over the release of Hale’s writings and other documents related to the police investigation.

Advocates for disclosure include The Tennessean newspaper, a state senator, a law enforcement nonprofit, and a gun-rights organization.

However, opposing the publication of the records are a group of Covenant School parents, the Covenant School itself, and Covenant Presbyterian Church.

In recent developments, a Nashville judge denied a request to pause the court proceedings, emphasizing the legislative intention to expedite public records cases.

This decision comes shortly after attorney David Raybin, representing Hale’s parents, facilitated the transfer of ownership of the writings to the Covenant parents.

The hope is that this transfer will bolster their argument to intervene and prevent the release of Hale’s writings, as it is believed they might provide insight into a motive for the attack.

According to the autopsy report, Hale was found wearing a white shirt with handwritten words, drawings, and numbers.

Handwritten words were also discovered on Hale’s bra, although their contents were not specified in the report.

Additionally, Hale carried a red pocket knife monogrammed with the name “AIDEN,” indicating their alternate identity as a transgender individual.

Law enforcement authorities have disclosed that Hale meticulously planned the attack over several months, discharging 152 rounds during the shooting.

Hale was reportedly receiving treatment for an undisclosed “emotional disorder,” but no connection has been established between that care and the shooting.

The victims of this tragic incident were nine-year-olds Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, along with Katherine Koonce, a 60-year-old school head, and two adults, Mike Hill and Cynthia Peak, both 61 years old.

The community continues to mourn their loss and seeks closure through a thorough examination of the circumstances surrounding the shooting, according NBC News.
