A heart-wrenching incident unfolded on Route 78 Freeway in Vista, near San Diego, resulting in the loss of two young lives, Your Content has learned.

A mother, identified as Sandra Ortiz, has been arrested following the death of her two children, a 10-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl.

The unfortunate accident occurred on Sunday evening around 6 p.m.

The devastating sequence of events began when a suitcase fell off the family’s green GMC Yukon SUV.

However, the mother, who stayed in the car as her children ventured onto the busy freeway, was arrested under serious allegations.

She faces charges of driving under the influence (DUI), gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and child endangerment.

Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking crash, aiming to uncover all pertinent details, according to the New York Post.
