A heart-wrenching incident unfolded on Route 78 Freeway in Vista, near San Diego, resulting in the loss of two young lives, Your Content has learned.
A mother, identified as Sandra Ortiz, has been arrested following the death of her two children, a 10-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl.
The unfortunate accident occurred on Sunday evening around 6 p.m.
The devastating sequence of events began when a suitcase fell off the family’s green GMC Yukon SUV.
In an attempt to retrieve it, the children hastily exited the vehicle as their mother pulled over to the righthand shoulder.
Tragically, while chasing after their fallen belongings, both children were struck by a white Nissan Sentra traveling at full speed.
The driver of the Nissan, a 41-year-old individual who remained at the scene until authorities arrived, has not faced charges thus far.
However, the mother, who stayed in the car as her children ventured onto the busy freeway, was arrested under serious allegations.
Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking crash, aiming to uncover all pertinent details, according to the New York Post.
