The identity of the young man who tragically lost his life in a fatal shooting in downtown Madison has been disclosed by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office, Your Content has learned.

Nicholas Taylor-Washington, a 20-year-old resident, succumbed to gunshot wounds inflicted in the early hours of Sunday, in the vicinity of the 600 block of East Dayton Street at approximately 3:40 a.m.

The initial findings from the autopsy substantiated that the cause of death was directly related to the injuries sustained in the shooting incident.

Law enforcement authorities continue their active investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, with the preliminary belief that the incident was not random, but rather targeted in nature.

In memory of Nicholas Taylor-Washington, his loved ones and friends gathered for a heartfelt vigil on Monday evening, situated in the eastern part of the city.
