A murder conviction has been secured against Ronald Lagasse, a Level 3 sex offender, Your Content has learned.
According to prosecutors, Lagasse not only took the life of Mary Simzer last September but also subjected her to extreme acts of desecration.
Simzer, a 65-year-old woman, was discovered in an alley on Pearce Street.
The cause of her death was determined to be blunt force trauma to her head and neck, accompanied by the insertion of tree branches into her throat.
Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to advocate on behalf of Mary Simzer, highlighting her roles as a sister, mother, and grandmother.
Notably, Ronald Lagasse had previously been convicted of raping a 15-year-old in 1997. His sentencing for the murder charge is scheduled for August 16, according to NBC10.
