New York City Mayor Eric Adams found himself in a contentious interaction with a citizen during a community meeting held at Gregorio Luperon High School for Science and Mathematics in Washington Heights, Your Content has learned.
The meeting, intended to address various topics, took an unexpected turn when a woman confronted Mayor Adams regarding recent rent hikes.
Initially, the atmosphere was amicable as Mayor Adams and his team fielded questions from attendees.
However, the woman interrupted the proceedings to express her dissatisfaction with the rent increases.
Despite Mayor Adams clarifying that he does not have direct control over the Rent Guidelines Board, the woman persisted in her criticisms, repeatedly pointing her finger at the Mayor.
Reaching his limit, Mayor Adams sternly responded to the woman, emphasizing the need for respect due to his position as the Mayor of NYC.
He then made a remark that sparked applause from the audience, saying, “I’m speaking to you as an adult.Don’t stand in front like you treated someone that’s on the plantation that you own.”
Following the incident, the woman sat down, and the meeting resumed without further disruptions, according to TMZ.
