Authorities Detain Mother Following Discovery of Deceased 7-Year-Old in Unoccupied DeKalb County Apartment, Your Content has learned.
Law enforcement officials have apprehended and pressed charges against the mother of a 7-year-old girl whose lifeless body was found within an empty apartment in DeKalb County during the weekend.
The investigation was initiated on Sunday after a concerned neighbor alerted the police about a repugnant odor emanating from an apartment located within the Hidden Valley Apartment Complex on Misty Waters Drive.
The neighbor, upon entering the premises to investigate, stumbled upon the young girl’s remains concealed inside a closet. Based on the examination conducted by investigators, the condition of the body indicated that the child had been deceased for a significant period of time. The victim has been identified as Alivia Hobbs-Jordan, a 7-year-old.
On Friday, authorities announced the identification of the girl’s mother as Alondra Hobbs. Hobbs was apprehended by officers on Thursday and has been charged with felony murder and second-degree cruelty.
Astonished neighbors recollected that they were aware of a woman residing in the upstairs unit but claimed to have never witnessed the presence of a child. “The child was never seen outside the apartment, never went to school.
There was no one to question the whereabouts of this child. It’s a disheartening reflection of the world we inhabit,” expressed Catherine Costello. The authorities have refrained from disclosing the cause of the girl’s demise and have affirmed that their investigation is ongoing.
