A devastating head-on crash occurred on Thursday night in Lake Balboa, resulting in the tragic deaths of a 60-year-old woman and a 5-year-old boy, while leaving four individuals with serious injuries, according to authorities, Your Content has learned.
The incident took place when a white 2014 Honda Accord, traveling north on North Woodley Avenue, crossed the center divider and veered into oncoming traffic. Colliding with a northbound gray 2020 Honda Civic, the collision unfolded as described by the Los Angeles Police Department.
Authorities received reports of the crash at 10:03 p.m. in the 6400 block of North Woodley Avenue, prompting a response from the Los Angeles Fire Department.
LAPD Officer Melissa Podany disclosed that the woman and child were seated in the backseat of the Civic.
Regrettably, the woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, succumbed to her injuries at the scene, while the child, identified as Yeshua Cordova Tobar, was transported to a local hospital, where he later passed away, as confirmed by the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office.
One additional passenger and the driver of the Civic sustained minor injuries and were promptly taken to a hospital for treatment, stated Officer Podany.
Both occupants of the Accord, a man and a woman in their 30s, were also transported to a local hospital. The man remains in critical condition, while the woman sustained moderate injuries, according to authorities.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear as of Friday morning. The LAPD confirmed that no arrests have been made, and a thorough investigation is underway, according to LA Times.
