Responding to reports of a fire on Folly Creek Lane around 11 a.m. on Sunday, officers from the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office made a devastating discovery.
The bodies of the victims were found at the scene, while the survivor was swiftly airlifted to a nearby hospital for critical medical care.
Authorities have taken Ryan Lenard Manigo, 33, into custody in connection with the incident. He currently faces charges for the attempted murder of the surviving victim, as confirmed in a news release by the sheriff’s office.
According to a law enforcement source, the fire was set to “throw off the investigation” into the suspected murder of six people.
The release further stated, “Additional charges are pending the victim’s identification and autopsy results.”
As of now, Manigo remains in custody, awaiting his bond hearing. It is unclear whether he has retained legal representation at this time.
