The Philadelphia Police Department revealed the arrest of two men in connection to a mass shooting that left at-least five people dead and several others hospitalized, Your Content has learned.
As Your Content readers know, a tragic shooting incident occurred in the Kingsessing neighborhood, resulting in the deaths of five victims. The department has taken two individuals into custody in connection with the incident, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.
The incident took place on July 3, 2023, around 8:28 pm, when the Philadelphia Police received a distress call reporting a person with a gun and shots fired in the vicinity of the 1600 block of S. 56th St. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered multiple victims with gunshot wounds scattered across a wide area.
Emergency services promptly transported six shooting victims to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. Tragically, five of the victims succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead. The remaining victims are currently listed in stable condition. Additionally, two individuals sustained injuries from shattered glass during the incident but are also in stable condition.
On July 4, 2023, at approximately 12:19 am, Philadelphia Police officers were directed to a location on the 1600 block of S. 56th St. There, they found an unresponsive male who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of PFD medics, the victim was pronounced dead at 12:34 am.
Lashyd Merritt, a 20-year-old male from the 5500 block of Greenway Ave., sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and arm. He was pronounced dead at 8:43 pm.
Dymir Stanton, a 29-year-old male from the 1700 block of S. Frazier St., suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and back. He was pronounced dead at 8:43 pm.
Ralph Moralis, a 59-year-old male from the 1700 block of S. 56th St., sustained gunshot wounds to the head, side, and buttocks. He was pronounced dead at 8:47 pm.
Daujan Brown, a 15-year-old male of unknown residence, suffered gunshot wounds to the shoulder, chest, and back. He was pronounced dead at 8:40 pm.
Joseph Wamah, Jr., a 31-year-old male from the 1600 block of S. 56th St., suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at 12:34 am by PFD medics.
The surviving shooting victims have been identified as follows:
Victim #6 is a 2-year-old male who sustained four gunshot wounds to the legs.
Victim #7 is a 13-year-old male who sustained two gunshot wounds to the legs.
Additionally, two individuals suffered injuries from shattered glass during the shooting. They have been identified as follows:
Victim #8 is a 33-year-old female.
Victim #9 is a 2-year-old male.
Authorities have apprehended a 40-year-old male in connection with the incident, and charges are pending against him.
