A heartbreaking incident occurred in Arizona, resulting in the tragic death of a 13-month-old girl after her mother accidentally ran over her while repositioning a car near their home, according to officials, Your Content has learned.
Responding to a distressing 911 call made by the mother, deputies from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s office rushed to the residence on Western Drive in Cottonwood on Thursday morning. The mother reported that she had unintentionally run over her 13-month-old baby with her car, as stated in a news release.
The car had been parked in a gravel area close to their home, and the mother was attempting to maneuver it out of a tight space. She believed that her daughter was at a safe distance, secured in her car seat.
During the process of repositioning the vehicle, the front tire caught the canopy of the car seat, causing it to fall backward and inflicting critical injuries on the infant, the sheriff’s office explained.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel who were already performing life-saving measures on the infant when the Yavapai County Sheriff’s office arrived, the child was pronounced dead at the Verde Valley Medical Center.
The identity of the child has not been disclosed by law enforcement officials. The incident is currently under investigation by the Yavapai County Sheriff’s office, and it is yet to be determined if charges will be filed against the mother in connection with her daughter’s tragic death, according to NBC News.
