A senior leader of the terrorist organization ISIS, Usamah al-Muhajir, was killed in a targeted drone strike carried out by the American military in eastern Syria on Friday, according to a statement released by US Central Command on Sunday, Your Content has learned.

The strike utilized three MQ-9 Reaper drones, the same ones that had recently encountered harassment from Russian aircraft. General Michael Kurilla, commander of Central Command, emphasized the commitment to defeating ISIS in the region.

US Central Command stated that there were no indications of civilian casualties in the drone strike, although reports of a civilian injury are being assessed by the coalition. The exact location of Al-Muhajir’s demise remains undisclosed, and further mission details were not provided by Central Command.

The US has been intensifying its efforts to target and neutralize ISIS leaders and operatives, particularly after the group lost its grip on Syria in 2019.

Despite the significant decline in power, officials emphasize that the remnants of ISIS still pose a notable threat in the region.

US Central Command maintains its commitment to pursuing surviving leaders, many of whom are suspected of plotting attacks beyond the Middle East.

This successful strike follows a recent tense encounter between the US MQ-9 Reaper drones and Russian fighter jets in Syrian airspace.

In consecutive incidents, Russian aircraft dropped flares and flew dangerously close to the drones, endangering all involved aircraft. These actions forced the drones into evasive maneuvers, compromising their safe operation.
