A murder suspect who had fled from police custody in the Sacramento area has been recaptured, as announced by the Placer County Sheriff via social media. The details of the capture have not been immediately disclosed.
The search for Eric J. Abril, an inmate accused of murder, was initiated by California authorities after he escaped from Sutter Roseville Medical Center in Placer County early Sunday morning. The Placer County District Attorney’s Office stated in an April news release that Abril, 35, faced multiple charges, including murder, kidnapping causing bodily harm, and attempted murder of a police officer, in connection with a shooting incident that occurred in a Roseville park in April.
Additionally, on the East Coast, authorities have issued a warning to the public regarding the discovery of small stockpiles or campsites in wooded areas, which they believe are linked to a self-taught survivalist and prison escapee.
Abril’s court docket reveals that he also faces charges related to personal discharge of a firearm, among others. The District Attorney’s office stated in April that the defendant allegedly attempted to murder a peace officer in a local Roseville park, resulting in multiple injuries and one fatality. The complaint further alleges that Abril kidnapped a victim, causing bodily harm, and murdered another victim during the course of the kidnapping. The complaint includes an additional charge of possession of a firearm by a felon, with allegations of a prior serious or violent felony conviction.
