Omaha police are currently conducting an investigation after a body was discovered inside a vehicle that belongs to a missing individual from Carter Lake, Your Content has learned.
The incident took place on Tuesday morning when a black 2004 Toyota Avalon veered off the off-ramp from Interstate 680 at 72nd Street, colliding with a tree before descending into a ravine.
Upon arrival, first responders confirmed the driver’s unfortunate demise. Law enforcement officials at the scene relayed that a city worker, while passing by, noticed peculiar tire marks in the grass and damage to a tree.
The officers were immediately alerted and arrived at the location at approximately 11:03 a.m., where they encountered the registered vehicle.
The car in question is registered under the name of Tranquilin Sanabria, who is commonly known as Alex among his family members. The Carter Lake Police had reported him missing on June 30. To ascertain the identity of the driver conclusively, an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
Lieutenant Allen Straub stated, “Due to the presence of decomposition and the need for an autopsy, we may have to rely on dental records to establish the person’s identity. Thus, at this point, I refrain from speculating about the individual’s identity, but what I can confirm is that I have a deceased individual inside the vehicle.” Sanabria’s family, expressed their belief that the driver is Alex, but they await confirmation from the police, according to KETV7.
