Police in Franklin, Tennessee, have apprehended a soccer coach, Camilo Hurtado Campos, following the discovery of videos on his cell phone depicting the sexual assault of unconscious boys, Your Content has learned.
According to a news release from the Franklin Police Department on Sunday, Campos is currently being held on charges of child rape and sexual exploitation of a minor, with additional charges expected to be filed.
The investigation began when Campos accidentally left his phone at a restaurant, and employees, seeking information about the owner to facilitate its return, stumbled upon numerous shocking videos and pictures involving children.
Disturbed by their findings, the restaurant staff immediately contacted the authorities.
Upon further examination of the 63-year-old coach’s phone, law enforcement officials uncovered hundreds of deeply disturbing images and videos.
The police statement reveals that Campos had recorded himself engaging in the rape of unconscious boys between the ages of approximately 9 and 17.
As the investigation progresses, police have already identified three victims from the footage, but they have found evidence of at least ten children being raped.
In a tweet on Monday, Franklin police disclosed that five additional victims, previously unknown, have come forward.
The police department stressed that their review of the evidence is far from complete, indicating the possibility of uncovering more horrifying details.
Detectives believe that some victims may not even be aware of the sexual assault they endured due to their unconscious state during the incidents.
Campos, who has resided in Franklin for the past two decades, reportedly frequented school playgrounds to approach and recruit children for soccer, ultimately gaining their trust. He would subsequently invite many of them to his residence.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to Campos or who may have had contact with him to come forward. The Franklin police are still working to identify the remaining victims.
As of now, Campos remains in custody, and his bond has been set at $525,000, according to a spokesperson for the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
The court clerk confirmed that he has not yet retained an attorney, and his next court appearance is scheduled for July 25, according to CNN.
