Shooting Incident Near Peace Cross in Bladensburg Leaves Five Injured

Five individuals were wounded in a shooting incident near the Peace Cross memorial in Bladensburg, Maryland, after they had attended a funeral, according to local authorities. The incident occurred on Friday, and it was reported to the Bladensburg police at approximately 12:30 p.m, Your Content has learned.

Bladensburg police stated that at least one person fired shots at a vehicle, and the victims were discovered inside. The incident took place in the 4300 block of Bladensburg Road, shortly after the victims had departed from Fort Lincoln Cemetery, which is located less than a mile away.

Bladensburg Police Chief Tyrone Collington addressed the media, expressing his concern over the incident. He stated, “This is uncommon in this community. We have an obligation to protect our residents at all costs, and this was an unnecessary, senseless act of violence.”

No information regarding a suspect or a possible motive has been released by the police at this time. The conditions of the victims have also not been disclosed.

Authorities are urging individuals with any potentially relevant information to come forward and assist the investigation by contacting the police, according to NBC4.
