Mary Somerville, a 39-year-old yoga teacher, has tragically passed away two months after her husband, Jaime Carsi, died in a suspected gas leak incident during their honeymoon, Your Content has learned.

The couple was found unconscious at their holiday home in Majorca on May 6, where they were believed to have been poisoned by the gas leak. Mary Somerville was immediately rushed to the hospital in serious condition but sadly succumbed to her injuries on July 2 at St Columba’s Hospice in Edinburgh.

Authorities in Majorca are investigating the incident, suspecting that the gas leak was the cause of both deaths. A notice posted by D Chisholm and Sons funeral directors described the circumstances as a “tragic accident in Majorca” and highlighted Mary’s deep connection with her late husband, as well as her cherished relationships with her family and friends.

According to reports, Mary Somerville and Jaime Carsi had recently married before the incident and were scheduled for a boat trip, prompting concern when they failed to appear. The couple had traveled from their home in Edinburgh to stay at a family-owned house in the Cala Mesquida resort.

Mary Somerville was well-known in her community as a yoga and meditation teacher, with friends and colleagues describing her as a “special soul” and an inspiration. She also served as a breathwork instructor at the non-profit Art of Living Foundation in Edinburgh. Additionally, she showcased her talent as a harpist, often performing at events organized by the Edinburgh Interfaith Association.

Iain Stewart, executive director of the Edinburgh Interfaith Association, expressed his grief over Mary’s passing, emphasizing her warm personality and infectious smile that brightened any room. He requested that people send prayers to her family and loved ones during this difficult time.

The funeral for Mary Somerville will take place at Inverness Crematorium. The broken fridge in the holiday home is believed to have been the source of the gas leak, causing this heartbreaking tragedy. The Foreign Office has confirmed its support for the family, and Spanish police have been contacted for further information regarding the incident, according to DailyMail.
