-

BETHEL TOWNSHIP, Pa. (YC) — Bethel Township Police are investigating what caused a crash that left several people trapped and hospitalized Sunday night.

YC broke the story just after 7:20 p.m. when a major accident closed both directions of 322.

YC learned that one vehicle involved in the crash was occupied by four nuns and one male occupant in the other.

Preliminary information indicates that a vehicle crossed the double yellow line and struck the other vehicle.

The accident happened in the area of Conchester Highway & Foulk Rd in Bethel Township, Delaware County.

A total of 5 passengers were trapped in the two vehicles; all of which were subsequently rushed to area hospitals for treatment.

First responders worked for nearly 40 minutes to remove all of the heavily-entrapped occupants from the vehicles.

PennStar landed at Maple Zone to transport one of the patients who is reportedly in serious condition. Preliminary information indicates that the patient airlifted was a nun.

Delaware County Criminal Investigation Division was on location.

This is a developing story.
