CHESTER CITY, Pa. (YC) – Friday the 13th kicked off in Chester with what a horror-film buff would easily mistaken for a scene out of the film ‘The Purge.’
Chester City accounts for well over 90% of the violent crime in Delaware County, but just after midnight Friday perhaps one of the creepiest robbers took to the streets.
In a video clip which one would think came from a scene out of the film ‘The Purge,’ a man is seen walking down the street wearing a mask with a hood calmly holding a shotgun.
After the video spread throughout social media, we reached out to Chester City Police along with several other news agencies for more information on the incident.
“Over the weekend I was getting numerous requests for information in reference to an incident that had occurred early Friday morning,” Captain James Chubb of the Chester City Police Department told reporters in an email news release referencing the Friday the 13th armed robbery.
Just before 2:00 a.m., members from the City of Chester Police Department received a call to respond to Green Forest Apartments located on the 300 block of E 24th St.
Upon their arrival, officers spoke to the victim who is in her 60’s.

The victim stated that she was walking through the Walnut Park Apartments parking lot, which is her normal route to the bus stop when she was approached by an unknown black male in his early twenties.
She stated that the man was simply walking through the parking lot when he told her to stop walking before robbing her at gunpoint.
After freezing for a moment, the actor took the shotgun and placed it to the victim’s head stating that he was not playing with her.
Later that morning, members from the City of Chester Police Department received a call to respond to the area of the 300 block of East 24th street for the report of a weapon found.
When they arrived, they located a shotgun similar to the weapon used by the actor in the earlier incident.
This weapon was confiscated by police, and tests will be performed on this weapon.
Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact Detective Steven Byrne (City of Chester Detective) at 610-447-8430 or by e-mail at [email protected]
