CHESTER CITY, Pa. (YC) — According to our database, nobody was shot in Chester City overnight.

This marks one of the safest nights Chester had in a while. Though a few calls for shots fired did come in, nobody was found injured.

However, New Years in Chester City is famous for thousands of shots being fired into the air at midnight.

People take to the streets, their backyards or rooftops and fire dozens of shots to ring in the New Year.

This could prove very dangerous as stray bullets will be coming down like a thunderstorm.

It is recommended residents stay inside or celebrate New Years out of town.

Chester City is only 4 homicides away from breaking the record of homicides, with 33 being their top year.

In Delaware County, 38 homicides were reported in 2017; 29 of which were in Chester City.
