POLICE in Delaware County swarmed a home for reports of a schizophrenic man with a knife, machete and possibly an axe, Your Content has learned.
Media Police surrounded the home located nearby the intersection of Mancil and State Roads after reports of a man with a knife threatening to harm himself or others, including police.
But as police were responding, the dispatcher noted the man had a machete that he threatened to use on police.
Police said the mother, sister and a 5-year-old child were present in the home. The man barricaded the kitchen door with a trash can and a chair.
The man, identified as a blonde 20-year-old, was wearing a blue bathrobe over a red shirt and told neighbors ‘he wanted to get shot tonight.’
The mother, sister and child got out of the home just before 11:40 p.m.
By midnight, multiple law enforcement sources told Your Content that SWAT, county detectives, medical personnel and other officials mobilized a command post nearby.
Sources say the man continued pacing from throughout the home as of 12:28 a.m. until being placed in custody at 12:37 a.m.
