A heartbreaking incident unfolded on Saturday evening as a 3-year-old boy accidentally fired a gun, fatally injuring his mother while they were seated in their car outside a Food 4 Less store in a Chicago suburb, Your Content has learned.

Authorities have announced that the father, Romell Watson, 23, will face charges related to the unlawful use of a weapon.

The distressing incident took place at approximately 8:30 p.m. while the family was inside their parked vehicle. The father occupied the driver’s seat, the mother sat beside him in the passenger seat, and their son was securely seated in a car seat in the back.

In a tragic turn of events, the young child somehow obtained access to the firearm and discharged it, striking his mother, identified as 22-year-old Daejah Bennett, in the neck.

Emergency services were immediately called, and Bennett was rushed to the hospital, but the injuries proved fatal, leading to her tragic passing.

Following the incident, law enforcement took Watson into custody for questioning and subsequent investigation.

The Dolton Police Chief has confirmed that Watson will be charged with unlawful use of a weapon, marking a solemn turn of events for the grieving family.
