A Canadian airline is urgently appealing to authorities in the Dominican Republic to release their five-member crew who have been imprisoned on allegations of drug smuggling, Your Content has learned.

The crew members took immediate action after discovering eight gym bags on their private jet, fearing that they contained explosives. To their shock, the bags were later found to be filled with cocaine, valued at approximately $25 million.

On March 31, the private jet touched down in the Dominican Republic with its intended destination set for Toronto.

During routine checks, the crew stumbled upon the eight black gym bags, each concealing 25 smaller packages of cocaine.

A local police investigation estimated that a total of 200 packages were recovered from the plane.

Footage captured by a Dominican news agency exhibits the seizure, displaying 200 tightly wrapped bricks carefully placed on the tarmac.

The identities of the crew members involved have not yet been disclosed, but the detained individuals consist of the captain, first officer, two cabin crew members, and a maintenance engineer.

The Canadian airline is emphasizing the crew’s prompt actions in reporting the suspicious packages, expressing concern over their detention.

The company maintains that the crew’s primary intention was to ensure the safety of the passengers and the aircraft, believing the bags to contain potential explosive devices.

They urge Dominican Republic officials to thoroughly investigate the matter and reconsider the crew’s incarceration, according to The Daily Mail.
