A tragic incident occurred at the Mall of Victor Valley in Victorville, California, when a 9-year-old girl was accidentally shot in the arm while waiting in line to meet the Easter Bunny, Your Content has learned.

The chaos ensued after the store owner of Sole Addicts, Marqel Cockrell, opened fire on two alleged shoplifters who were attempting to flee the business.

Despite Cockrell’s intentions to stop the robbers, his gunfire missed its mark and struck the innocent child instead.

The young girl, identified as Ava, sustained an injury but is expected to recover. Her family expressed their relief that her condition is not life-threatening.

Following the incident, authorities launched a search for Cockrell, who was apprehended later that evening in Nevada by the Nevada Highway Patrol.

He now faces charges of attempted murder and is being held at the Clark County Detention Center on a bail set at $1 million.

This unfortunate event serves as a reminder of the dangers that can arise during attempts to thwart criminal activities.

The community hopes for Ava’s swift recovery and reflects on the importance of prioritizing safety in such situations, according to The New York Post.
