Ismael Herrera, the husband of a Texas woman who was arrested for a self-abortion, has alleged that she had an extramarital affair in the divorce papers he filed on the same day she was taken into custody, Your Content has learned.

Ismael Herrera initiated divorce proceedings against his wife, Lizelle Herrera, 26, on April 7, citing her alleged affair. However, it was only days later that he discovered she had undergone an abortion.

Expressing his anguish, Herrera stated that their marriage was irreparable following his accusations of infidelity against his estranged wife. He further revealed his heartbreak upon learning about Lizelle’s self-induced abortion, which took place the previous week.

Following her abortion, Lizelle sought medical treatment at a local hospital, which subsequently reported her to the authorities. Consequently, she was arrested and initially charged with murder. However, these charges were later dropped in accordance with Texas law. Starr County prosecutor Gocha Ramirez issued an apology, acknowledging the error in the legal process, according to The Daily Mail.
