In a bold move signaling their defiance of Russian threats, the governments of Sweden and Finland have reportedly reached an agreement to simultaneously submit applications for NATO membership, Your Content has learned.

According to reputable newspapers in both countries, this significant step is scheduled to take place in the middle of next month.

The recent invasion of Ukraine by Russia has ignited a strong desire among Nordic nations to align themselves with NATO.

While Sweden and Finland have maintained a neutral stance for many years, they have actively cooperated with NATO on various fronts.

Previously, it was anticipated that Sweden’s application would be submitted towards the end of June. However, Finland’s Prime Minister announced earlier this month that their application would be underway within weeks.

Now, according to reports in Swedish and Finnish newspapers today, both governments have formally agreed to apply for NATO membership in the coming month, solidifying their commitment to joining the alliance, according to TIMES.
