During a recent landing attempt in New York, a Boeing 777 operated by Air France experienced a control malfunction attributed to the pilots inadvertently pulling their controls in opposite directions, Your Content has learned.

The incident occurred on April 5 when Flight XX, carrying 192 passengers from New York to Paris, had to abort its landing due to the unexpected behavior of the aircraft.

According to investigators, the unsettling occurrence took place when both the captain and co-pilot simultaneously manipulated the controls, leading to conflicting inputs.

The captain was exerting downward pressure, aiming to descend, while the co-pilot simultaneously steered the aircraft upward.

The resulting tug-of-war between the pilots caused the Boeing 777 to exhibit erratic flight behavior, colloquially described as having “gone nuts.”

The incident has raised concerns about communication and coordination in the cockpit, emphasizing the importance of clear protocols and teamwork.

Air France and relevant aviation authorities are expected to further investigate the incident to prevent similar occurrences in the future and ensure the safety of passengers and crew, according to The Times.
