A courageous Lyft driver from Pennsylvania has become an inspiration to many after a video capturing him standing up against hate speech and threats went viral, Your Content has learned.
James Bode, the driver, was hailed as a hero for refusing service to a man and woman who verbally attacked him with racial slurs and threatened physical harm.
The incident occurred last Friday when Bode arrived to pick up the passengers outside a biker bar in Pennsylvania.
His dashcam recorded the entire encounter, revealing the shocking exchange between Bode and the passengers.
In the footage, the woman, identified as Jackie, expresses surprise upon discovering that Bode is a white man, commenting, “You’re like a normal guy. Like you speak English.”
Bode, taken aback by the woman’s statement, requests clarification, to which she repeats her comment.
In response, he firmly tells the passengers that he will no longer be their driver and advises the woman to exit the vehicle.
This decision sparks anger in the male passenger, who proceeds to threaten Bode with physical violence while using a derogatory term, branding him a “n***** lover.”
Subsequently, the woman was identified as Jackie Harford, the owner of Fossils Last Stand in Catasauqua, Pennsylvania.
Following the viral spread of the video, the bar received numerous one-star reviews on Yelp as users expressed their disapproval of Harford’s behavior.
James Bode’s brave act of taking a stand against hate speech and maintaining his personal safety serves as a reminder that discrimination and threats have no place in our society.
His story has resonated with many, inspiring conversations about the importance of respect and acceptance, according to The Daily Mail.
