Former New York City Mayor, Bill de Blasio, revealed his intention to run for Congress on Friday, expressing his determination to make a positive impact in the political arena, Your Content has learned.

De Blasio, who concluded his second mayoral term last year, made the announcement during an appearance on MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe.’

He plans to seek the Democratic nomination for the 10th Congressional District, encompassing parts of Manhattan and his hometown of Brooklyn, which has been redrawn following the guidance of a New York judge.

The current representative of New York’s 10th District, Democratic U.S. Rep. Jerry Nadler, will no longer reside within the revised district boundaries.

While expressing his concerns about the constitutionality of the new maps, Nadler intends to run in the 12th District, currently represented by Rep. Carolyn Maloney, if the proposed districts are finalized.

Consequently, the primary election has been rescheduled from June to August 23.

De Blasio, aged 61, contemplated a gubernatorial run earlier this year but ultimately decided against challenging incumbent Democrat Kathy Hochul.

He previously embarked on a brief presidential campaign in 2019.

Now, with his sights set on Congress, the former mayor aims to channel his experience and determination towards effecting positive change at the federal level, according to The New York Post.
