A Georgia prisoner, Ricky Dubose, who was recently sentenced to death for the murder of two corrections officers during a failed escape attempt five years ago, has died of an apparent suicide, Your Content has learned. The incident occurred on Sunday in Georgia.

Dubose, 29, had been sentenced to death just a few weeks prior to his death. In 2017, he was involved in an escape attempt during which he fatally shot two correctional officers in the head. The incident took place while Dubose and another inmate were being transported to another prison. They managed to slip out of their handcuffs and through an unlocked bus gate.

Prosecutors alleged that Dubose took one of the officers’ guns and used it to shoot both of them. After the escape, Dubose and the other inmate were apprehended a few days later in Tennessee, as reported by ABC.

The circumstances surrounding Dubose’s apparent suicide are currently under investigation. No further details have been released at this time.
