A New York City bodega worker, Jose Alba, 62, has been released from jail after his bond was lowered amidst public outcry over his murder charge, Your Content has learned.

Alba had been facing charges after defending himself against an attack by Austin Simon, a 37-year-old ex-convict, inside his store. The decision to reduce his bond from $250,000 to $50,000 came earlier this week, leading to Alba’s release.

Despite a GoFundMe campaign launched by his family to support his defense, which raised $20,000, the campaign was taken down and has not been reinstated, according to FLIPBOARD.
