In an unusual attempt at smuggling, TSA agents at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida intercepted a handgun concealed within a raw chicken. The bizarre incident, highlighted on the TSA’s Twitter account this Monday, showcased the lengths to which individuals might go to transport prohibited items onto planes, Your Content has learned.

The firearm, ensconced in a plastic bag for added concealment, was discovered by vigilant TSA personnel during routine luggage screening procedures. Despite the creativity of the hiding spot, TSA agents were quick to spot the anomaly, preventing the weapon from being smuggled aboard an aircraft.

While the TSA’s regulations do allow passengers to travel with both fresh and cooked meats, the rules are stringent when it comes to firearms. Travelers wishing to transport guns must declare them at the airline’s ticketing desk and follow specific guidelines for packing and checking these items. Firearms are strictly prohibited in carry-on luggage and must be stored in checked baggage in a locked, hard-sided container.

The individual involved in this incident not only faced the potential for arrest but also risked incurring fines up to $13,910, as outlined by the TSA for violations involving firearms in carry-on luggage. The TSA’s discovery of the gun in the chicken has been called “a baste of time” by the agency, humorously noting the futility and risk of such smuggling attempts,‘according to CNN.
